A Persistent Prayer
A Persistent Prayer
Has anyone heard the term “A Wing and a Prayer”. It was a phrase from song back in 1943, and inspired by an American pilot during World War II. On his way back from a mission in Germany, his plane was in really bad shape, and his crew didn’t know if they would make it back. The pilot told his crew, “Those who want to, please pray”. And they prayed their plane back home. See, It’s means that when you’re in a desperate situation and although you aren’t prepared, you are hoping and praying you will succeed.
I know at some point during your life you have done things on a wing and prayer,
-You may have been trying to make to the next exit on a tire donut, and barely any gas, but you have a prayer.
-Your bank account maybe in the negative, and you only have a few dollars, and the electric bill is due, but you have a prayer.
-You may have a half of man or woman, husband or wife, and you find yourself tired and fed up, but you have prayer.
-With everything that’s going on in this world, we find ourselves confused, used, abused and divided, but we still have a prayer.
I need somebody to get in their prayer closet and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Where you at Lord? I need you to cover me with your wings through my Prayer.
James 5:16 says “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” The word fervent here means “to boil” or “to be hot”. It is a zeal by which we earnestly pray for God’s Will to be done. We need to become more passionate about whatever it is that we are praying for. This type of praying involves more than words, it involves the utmost sincerity and compassionate some times down right ugly prayers. Anybody know what I’m talking about?..
Faith is the one thing that Christ is after. He wants trust and belief in him, in His word, in His promises, and in His warnings.
The greatest evidence of faith is persevering prayer. The person who truly believes, will be talking and sharing, communing and fellowshipping, living and moving with God day and night.
Many of you may have experienced some kind of injustice. Whether it was by a person in authority, may have been a co-worker, friend, family member or God forbid even a church member. I want you to understand that when it seems as though Life is not fair…..God is.
If even an unjust Judge will answer the pleas of a persistent widow, how much more will a just God respond to those in need who pray to him in Faith. When trials and challenges make it seem that there is no help in sight, we can still trust God to deliver us.
Seeking God requires patience and persistence, but it always pays off in the end.
May God bless you and keep you!
